Luxury Para-Soy (5474) & HPSP Wicks

I'm currently testing the Titan 5474 Para-soy candle wax with HPSP candle wicks.  I'm hoping that this will be helpful to some when narrowing down which wicks to use.  Feel free to adjust based on your wax/vessel/fragrance oil combo.  I'm using the Libbey 2917 straight-sided vessel, so if yours is smaller, you will want to wick down.  If you're using a vessel that has thicker glass or made of ceramic, I would wick up. It's best to test two to three sizes in a few wick series to see what you like the best!  Feel free to reach out to me anytime if you have any questions at all.  I'm here to help.

About HPSP Wicks...

Constructed of specially treated cotton, Special High-Performance Flat Wicks by São Vitor are often used in container candles, pillars, tapers, decorative, votives, and tealight candles because it minimizes soot. HPSP candle wicks feature a long strand and tight braids to inhibit carbon deposit and afterglow.  These are designed to use in coconut blended waxes.

  • Constructed from long strand, tight braid, and specially treated cotton.
  • Designed to be used in container candles, pillars, tapers, decorative, votives, and tealight candles.
  • Engineered to minimize soot and inhibit carbon deposit and afterglow.

I'm using the Libbey 2917 jar and the wicks I'm using are HPSP 300 (54) and HPSP 272 (57).  I'm using 8% fragrance load.  I will allow it to cure for 2 weeks before testing them. I will keep you updated! The other items I used when testing are the bowtie wick centering bars and our candle wick trimmers.

If you've found a combination that works for you, please feel free to share your results below.

5474 3-1/8" Hpsp 300
Just getting started. I wish I poured a tester for the Hpsp 331 and 335 wicks.  This wick isn't going to work.  Lot of soot along the rim of the vessel. See videos below.  Will test a smaller size.
