Wick Testing Soy Bliss / CB2 Wax & LX Wicks
I'm currently testing Soy Bliss / CB 2 candle wax with LX candle wicks. I'm hoping that this will be helpful to some when narrowing down which wicks to use. Feel free to adjust based on your wax/vessel/fragrance oil combo. I'm using a vessel that's 3-1/8" inner diameter at the top, so if yours is smaller, you will want to wick down. It's best to test a couple wick sizes in a few wick series or brands to see what you like the best! Feel free to reach out to me anytime if you have any questions at all. I'm here to help.
About LX Wicks...
LX wicks are braided, coreless, flat wicks manufactured with stabilizing threads that ensure an optimum burn profile. The allows for a very stable and consistent flame, which minimizes, or eliminates, mushrooming / carbon buildup while reducing smoke and soot. These wicks are similar to Premier wicks in that they don't burn too hot.
I'm using a Libbey jar with a 3-1/8" inner diameter, and the wicks I'm using are LX 8 (double wick), LX 10 (double wick), LX 14 (single wick), LX 16 (single wick), and LX 18 (single wick). I'm using our Cashmere fragrance oil at 9% fragrance load. I will allow it to cure for 2 weeks before testing them. I will keep you updated!
If you've found a combination that works for you, please feel free to share your results below.

Wax Type | Vessel Size | Wicks | Fragrance Load | Results |
Soy Bliss/CB2 | 3-1/8" | LX 8 (Double Wick) | 9% Cashmere | I believe single wicking will be sufficient vs double wicking, but we will see with the LX 8. **Actually, these are looking good so far. I'm about 1/3 of the way through the candle. **Looks really good!! |
Soy Bliss/CB2 | 3-1/8" | LX 10 (Double Wick) | 9% Cashmere | The melt pool is too deep for this combo. It's too much wick for this size jar. Single wicking will be sufficient. **I'm about 1/3 of the way through the candle, and the melt pool is pretty deep for these wicks. The double LX8 look good. **Looks really good, but I'm still going with double LX 8 over the LX 10. |
Soy Bliss/CB2 | 3-1/8" | LX 14 (Single Wick) | 9% Cashmere | Keeping an eye on these. **So, it's looking like this size might be too small. There is some tunneling so far and the wax isn't melting off the sides. **About 3/4 through, still a tiny bit of wax hang up along the sides. This one ended being really good too. No wax buildup along the sides. |
Soy Bliss/CB2 | 3-1/8" | LX 16 (Single Wick) | 9% Cashmere | Keeping an eye on these. **So, it's looking like this size MIGHT be too small. There is some tunneling so far and the wax isn't melting off the sides, YET. **About 3/4 through, and actually, this is looking really good. No soot and the wax is melting off the sides of the jar! This wick was PERFECT for this combo! |
Soy Bliss/CB2 | 3-1/8" | LX 18 (Single Wick) | 9% Cashmere | Keeping an eye on these. **So, I'm still keeping an eye on this one. There is some tunneling so far and the wax isn't melting off the sides, yet. I might try the LX 20 and LX 22 depending on what happens with this. **About 3/4 through and there is a rim of soot starting to form along the top of the vessel. |
Soy Bliss/CB2 | 3-1/8" | LX 20 (Single Wick) | 9% | Scheduled |
