Wick Testing Coco Soy / EC 26 Wax & Crackle Booster Wood Wicks
I'm currently testing Coco Soy / EC26 candle wax with BOOSTER Crackle Wood Wicks. I'm hoping that this will be helpful to some when narrowing down which wicks to use. Feel free to adjust based on your wax/vessel/fragrance oil combo. I'm using a vessel that's 3-1/8" inner diameter at the top, so if yours is smaller, you will want to wick down. It's best to test a couple wick sizes in a few wick series or brands to see what you like the best! Feel free to reach out to me anytime if you have any questions at all. I'm here to help.
About Crackle Wood Wicks...
Wooden wicks are very easy to use and add a unique appeal to finished candles. Our wooden wicks are designed to burn cleanly, promoting a full melt pool and excellent scent throw. They come with stainless steel custom tabs, which prevent any wax discoloration. Wood wicks are known for their unique ‘crackle’ when burning in finished candles.
The Crackle Booster Wick or Dual Wood Wick is made by attaching two or more wicks together with a thin layer of non-toxic adhesive, making a single-layered wick.
WHY USE A BOOSTER WICK?
Depending on your wax blend, fragrance, and dye load, as well as the diameter of your candle, sometimes a single-ply wick is just not enough wicking material for a proper burn. Vegetable waxes (such as soy) and beeswax work well with a Booster Wick.
I'm using a 3-1/8" jar and the wicks I'm using are Crackle BOOSTER .02/.375 (SMALL), Crackle BOOSTER .02/.5 (MEDIUM), Crackle BOOSTER .02/.625 (LARGE), Crackle BOOSTER .03/.375 (SMALL), Crackle BOOSTER .03/.5 (MEDIUM), and Crackle BOOSTER .03/.625 (LARGE). I'm using our new Rain Barrel fragrance oil at 9% fragrance load. I will allow it to cure for 2 weeks before testing them. I will keep you updated! The other items I used when testing are the high temp wick stickers and our candle wick trimmers.
If you've found a combination that works for you, please feel free to share your results below.
