Coconut Soy Hybrid 51104 Wax by Titan Wax & CDN Wicks
About CDN wicks...
The CDN series features a flat braided cotton wick with a special paper filament to promote maximum and consistent capillary action while ensuring a wick trimming flame posture. The difference between CDN wicks and CD wicks is a subtle but vital one. The CDN / Stabilo KST curls less while the CD / Stabilo curls more. Overall, they tend to burn cooler then the CD wicks in most waxes. CDN wicks will curl at approximately a 30-degree angle. The CD wicks curl to a 90-degree angle. The lesser angle or curl of the CDN wick will result in a smaller melt pool or base.
I'm using a 3-1/8" jar and the wicks I'm using are CDN 12 (single wick). I'm using Pumpkin Souffle at 9% fragrance load. I will allow it to cure for 2 weeks before testing them. I will keep you updated! The other items I used when testing are the bowtie wick centering bars and our candle wick trimmers.
If you've found a combination that works for you, please feel free to share your results below.
Results
Wax Type | Vessel Size | Wicks | Fragrance Load | Results |
Coco Soy Hybrid 51104 | 3-1/8" @ Top, Tapers to 2.5" @ Bottom | CDN 7 | 9% Fresh Water + Aloe | Looking better, but I would like to test a CDN 6 for this wax/vessel/FO combo. I'm about 3/4 down and there's some soot starting to form along the rim of the vessel. Definitely needs a smaller wick. |
Coco Soy Hybrid 51104 | 3-1/8" @ Top, Tapers to 2.5" @ Bottom | CDN 8 | 9% Fresh Water + Aloe | Still too much wick. There's a bit of soot along the rim of the vessel. |
Coco Soy Hybrid 51104 | 3-1/8" @ Top, Tapers to 2.5" @ Bottom | CDN 12 | 9% Pumpkin Souffle | I tested this one and the CDN 12 is definitely too much wick. I will test some of the smaller sizes. |
