Wick Testing Soy 10 Wax & CD Wicks
I'm currently testing Soy 10 candle wax with CD candle wicks. I'm hoping that this will be helpful to some when narrowing down which wicks to use. Feel free to adjust based on your wax/vessel/fragrance oil combo. I'm using a vessel that's 3-1/8" inner diameter at the top, so if yours is smaller, you will want to wick down. It's best to test a couple wick sizes in a few wick series or brands to see what you like the best! Feel free to reach out to me anytime if you have any questions at all. I'm here to help.
About CD Wicks...
Stabilo, formerly knows as CD wicks respectively, the Stabilo wicks are coreless, non-directional, flat braided cotton wicks with a special paper filament woven around them. This configuration is engineered to promote maximum and consistent capillary action while ensuring a wick trimming flame posture. The Stabilo series is used in many different applications and is especially compatible with the harder to melt viscous vegetable-based waxes.
I'm using a 3-1/8" jar and the wicks I'm using are CD 6 (single wick), CD 7 (single wick), CD 8, and CD 10 (single wick). I'm using our Fresh Water + Aloe fragrance oil at 9% fragrance load. I will allow it to cure for 2 weeks before testing them. I will keep you updated!
If you've found a combination that works for you, please feel free to share your results below.

Looking good. This ended up being the winner for this wax/vessel/wicks combo. The others ended up with soot along the rim of the vessel. I will also try testing CD 5 for this wax to see what happens. |

Looking good so far. Actually, as it got closer to the end of the candle, there was a bit of soot forming along the rim of the vessel. |
Soy 10 | 3-1/8" | CD 8 |

Looking good. There's about 1/3 left and there's some soot starting to form along the rim of the vessel. |

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the candle and there's some soot starting to form along the rim of the vessel. |
