ParaNatural 51104 Luxury Wax & LX Wicks
I'm currently testing LX wicks with Coconut Soy Hybrid 51104 Wax by Titan Wax. I'm hoping that this will be helpful to some when narrowing down which wicks to use. Feel free to adjust based on your wax/vessel/fragrance oil combo. I'm using a vessel (Libbey Heavy Rocks Base) that's 3-1/8" inner diameter at the top, so if yours is smaller, you will want to wick down. It's best to test a couple wick sizes in a few wick series or brands to see what you like the best! Feel free to reach out to me anytime if you have any questions at all. I'm here to help.
About LX wicks...
The LX wick is a uniquely braided, coreless, flat wick manufactured with stabilizing threads that ensure an optimum burn profile. The allows for a very stable and consistent flame, which minimizes, or eliminates, carbon buildup (mushrooming) while reducing afterglow, smoke, and soot. The LX series of wicks are designed to improve the burning of paraffin and vegetable waxes in pillars as well as containers. Made in the USA.
I'm using a 3-1/8" jar and the wicks I'm using are LX 14, 16, and 18. I'm using between and 8-9% fragrance load. I will allow it to cure for 2 weeks before testing them. I will keep you updated! The other items I used when testing are the bowtie wick centering bars, and our candle wick trimmers.
If you've found a combination that works for you, please feel free to share your results below.

Libbey HRB | LX 14 | Testing...on Day 3, still too early to tell. **I'm thinking this wick will be too small for this vessel, but will really be able to tell the bottom half of the candle. Very minimal mushrooming, if any. **This one is definitely on the smaller side for this vessel. **Actually this one did really well towards the end. The remaining wax on the sides melted "caught up." I'm debating on testing the LX 12 to see how that does, but I like this one!!! |
Libbey HRB | LX 16 | Testing...on Day 3 still too early to tell. **Liking this wick so far.. Vessel not too hot. Very minimal mushrooming, if any. **So far, this one is looking good. **I'm liking both Lx 16 and 18. The last final burns will tell us more. **OK, so there is quite a bit of flickering in both LX 16 and 18. More soot in the LX 18. I'm going to retest this at 8% fragrance load and see how it looks. **So, I retested the LX 16 and posted videos below. It turned out really good, so I would say either LX 14 or 16 depending on fragrance oil used!! |
Libbey HRB | LX 18 | Testing...on Day 3 still too early to tell. **I'm thinking this wick might be too much. Jar is pretty warm to the touch. We will see on the bottom half. Very minimal mushrooming, if any. **This one looks good too, so far, but vessel is pretty warm to the touch. **This one looks good still.. Vessel is warm but not too hot to touch. A tiny haze of soot is starting to form along the rim of the vessel. **Lots of flickering towards the end, and more soot as well. Vessel temp was on the hotter side as well. |
